Architecture Favorites: Boathouses

We can't deny the influence of architecture on Somethings Come Between Us.
We thought we should share some of the architectural spaces and buildings that inspire us.  So, we hope you enjoy, and find some inspiration of your own.

This week, we have selected some beautiful Boathouses that caught our eye.

The use of simple materials in a creative way create the wall panels that open up, making the space flexible and interactive with the exterior space.  They have canvas that is back-lit to incorporate a unique lighting in the space.

Balnearn Boathouse
found on DigsDigs
Inspired by a James Bond aesthetic, this boathouse has bold lines and a cave for keeping your boat protected.  The simple layout includes a fold-up bed, kitchenette, and a shower room.  Everything that Bond needs for his one night sleep before moving on to his next adventure scene.

Hood Canal Boathouse
Made with simplicity and balance, this boathouse opens up to become an exterior room.  Modern design techniques are merged with traditional details and materials.  Also love how close it is to the shore.  The interiors are simple, with a staircase that can be lowered via pulley to access the lofted bedroom behind the front windows.
